My ethos for Rushmere soaps is focused on four non negotiable pillars:

  1. Outstanding customer service
  2. Hand crafted premium soap
  3. Reducing my environmental impact
  4. Vegan & cruelty free

These things are easy to say, so more importantly, what am I doing to achieve them?

Outstanding customer service

As a customer, you aren't just a faceless order number, you actually matter to me as an individual.

I want you to be 'wowed' by the products and service you receive from me.  And I want you to want to come back again.

Your order will be packed and shipped out within one working day.  I know for companies like Amazon that is the norm, but for a small business, turn around times can be anything up to a week. But I know how important it is to receive your order as quickly as possible.

I package your order beautifully so that it becomes an experience when you receive and open your parcel.  I won't say any more here but if you have ordered before then you will know what I mean.  If not, then I hope you love receiving your first parcel as much I as I will enjoy sending it to you.

Every order, no matter how large or small will receive a complimentary sample of soap along with the items you purchased.

I offer a 100% money back guarantee, no questions asked.  I don't know of any other soap maker in the UK who does this.

I will happily hand write a personalised message to go into your parcel at no extra cost to you.  That makes it easy to send a gift directly to a loved one.  Most companies either don't offer this service, or at the very least, they charge for it.

My aim is that you are delighted with your order, but on the rare occasion that something is amiss, I will always sort it out, going above and beyond to make sure you are satisfied.

Hand crafted premium soap

I am meticulous about the ingredients that I use, never skimping on quality.  I believe you get what you pay for and using cheap ingredients leads to ...... well you get the picture.  That is why I won't compromise on quality.

I only make in teeny tiny batches and I don’t employ anyone else.

So every single bar is made by me, inspected multiple times by me during the curing process and it won’t reach you unless I am 100% happy with it.

Reducing my environmental impact

All products are wrapped in 100% plastic free packaging

They are shipped in a cardboard box which is wrapped in recycled kraft paper and sealed with paper tape

Packing peanuts are made from starch and are compostable

I pay to plant 50 trees per month in rainforests across the world.  So far I have purchased 1000 trees.

There is an information page in this section on the website called 'planting trees' where you can see more details about this project.

On the odd occasion if I do need to use a tiny bit of tape to seal something, I have switched over to using Scotch Plant Based, Solvent Free Adhesive tape

I work hard on social media pages to raise awareness of the issue of plastics currently being used everywhere in the bath, body and cosmetics industry (tiktok and instagram).

Vegan & cruelty free

I have been vegan since 2016.  I change between vegan, whole foods plant based and raw, but no matter what, I do not consume or use animal products in any way, shape or form.

Soap in and off itself is naturally vegan, unless you add honey, milk, silk or beeswax.

And most soap makers play off this fact using it as a marketing tool.

However most soap makers are not vegan themselves and many don't actually have a real insight about what it means to be properly vegan.

They don't necessarily understand that claiming to sell vegan products isn't just about the soap ingredients.  For example, many don't know that they need to ensure colourants and glues contain no animal products.

So if using products that are truly vegan matters to you, then rest assured that Rushmere Soaps is run by a fellow vegan who does understand what she is doing.

It goes without saying that all of the products I make are cruelty free and are never tested on animals.
